The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Muhammadiyah University of Cirebon (UMC) continued its series of academic visits in Jakarta by visiting the Directorate General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Surveillance (PSDKP) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) on Thursday (3/12). This activity is part of FKIP UMC's effort to broaden students' knowledge and strengthen cooperation with various strategic institutions, after previously visiting the Australian Embassy and establishing a memorandum of understanding with the State University of Jakarta (UNJ).

UMC Vice Rector III, Dr. Bagus Nurul Iman, M.Pd., stated that collaboration between higher education institutions and government agencies is crucial in supporting educational development. According to him, as a higher education institution located in a coastal area, UMC pays great attention to marine and fisheries issues, making cooperation with the Directorate General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Surveillance (PSDKP) a relevant step to enrich students' learning experiences.

He explained that the academic visit provided an opportunity for students to directly understand various marine resource management policies and practices that they had previously only studied theoretically in the classroom. Through field experience, students are expected to gain a broader perspective on sustainable natural resource management.

This activity was also accompanied by the Dean of FKIP UMC, Dr. Hj. Fikriyah, M.Pd., along with the Vice Dean of FKIP UMC, Norma Bastian, M.Pd., Head of the English Language Education Study Program, Dila Charcharisma, M.Pd., Head of the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Study Program, Dr. Ikariyah Sugesti, and Head of the PGSD Study Program, Dr. Widia Nur Jannah, M.Pd.

In the presentation session, the Head of the Public Relations Task Force of the Directorate General of Marine and Fishery Resources Surveillance (PSDKP), Dr. Sahono, explained the strategic role of the Directorate General of PSDKP in maintaining the sustainability of Indonesia's marine resources. He explained that surveillance is carried out through various efforts, starting from preventing illegal fishing practicesIllegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing or IUU Fishing), marine ecosystem protection, and law enforcement in the maritime and fisheries sector.

As a form of appreciation for the visit, the Directorate General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Surveillance (PSDKP) also presented an award plaque to the delegation of FKIP UMC students, which was symbolically received by a representative of the group.

Besides discussing maritime surveillance, participants gained insight into the public communication strategies implemented by the Directorate General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Surveillance (PSDKP). Senior Fisheries Supervisor, Nur Siyah, explained that digital transformation has changed the pattern of government information delivery to the public. Currently, social media has become one of the primary means for delivering information quickly, broadly, and interactively.

In line with that, PSDKP Technical Officer Tiffa explained that various field supervision activities are now routinely published through social media in the form of documentation, educational content, and activity reports. This step aims to increase transparency while building public awareness about the importance of preserving Indonesia's marine and fishery resources.
