Accounting Study Program Lecturers at the UMC Faculty of Economics and Business Share Strategies for Building Financial Mindset for Students
The Accounting Student Association (HIMAKSI) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Muhammadiyah University of Cirebon (UMC) successfully organized an event BAR BAR (Study Together) that mengangkat tema “Leveling Up Your Financial Mindset: Learn It, Understand It, Apply It.” This activity is designed to enhance students' understanding of the importance of financial management while fostering a wiser financial mindset in everyday life.
The initiative spearheaded by HIMAKSI received appreciation from the Head of the Accounting Study Program of the FEB UMC, M. Taufik Azis, S.E., M.Si., Akt., CA. According to him, activities like this are a positive step in providing financial education to students and can be an inspiration for other student organizations to present various innovative programs.
In this event, BAR BAR features two experienced speakers in the fields of economics and finance, namely Muzayyanah and Itat Tatmimah. Their presence provides more comprehensive insights into personal financial management, setting spending priorities, and strategies for building healthy financial habits from the college years.
The activity takes place interactively through material delivery combined with discussion and experience-sharing sessions. Participants are given the opportunity to ask questions and consult directly with the speakers. To maintain a conducive and engaging atmosphere, the committee also organizes various light games (icebreakers) that make the learning process more relaxed and enjoyable.
In addition to acquiring material, participants are also encouraged to apply the understanding they have gained through individual problem-solving and group quizzes containing case studies on financial problems often faced by students. This activity aims to train critical thinking skills while honing the ability to make sound financial decisions.
As a form of appreciation for the participants' participation and performance, the committee provided prizes to individuals and groups who showed the best results during the event. The event then concluded with a group photo session as a form of documentation and to strengthen camaraderie among participants.
Through the "BAR BAR" event, HIMAKSI FEB UMC hopes that students will not only understand the concept of financial management theoretically, but also be able to apply it in their daily lives. Thus, students are expected to become a more independent, wise, and responsible generation in managing their finances for a better future.
