FEB UMC and Indocement Palimanan Collaborate on Coastal Cleanup and Endemic Tree Planting in Cirebon

The Faculty of Economics and Business, Muhammadiyah University of Cirebon (FEB UMC), in collaboration with PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Palimanan, organized a beach cleanup and endemic tree planting event in the Cirebon coastal area. This activity was carried out in commemoration of World Environment Day 2024 as a form of concern for the increasingly polluted coastal environment, especially by plastic waste.

The Vice Rector II of UMC appreciated Indocement's involvement in supporting the environmental program. He emphasized that waste management cannot be solely carried out by the government, but requires cooperation from various parties through a collaborative or penta-helix approach involving academics, industry, government, community, and media.

The Dean of FEB UMC explained that the activity began with planting local trees, which are expected to maintain ecosystem balance and improve the quality of the coastal environment. Following that, participants carried out a beach cleanup by collecting various types of waste polluting the area.

In addition to raising environmental awareness, this activity is also expected to encourage community participation in maintaining coastal cleanliness and have a positive impact on the local ecosystem and tourism potential. This collaboration is a real manifestation of FEB UMC and Indocement's commitment to sustainable environmental preservation.
